A 2027 wall calendar in Japanese and English, illustrated with twelve classic Japanese woodblock prints by Katsushika Hokusai and Utagawa Hiroshige. Each month opens to two pages: a woodblock print on top and a large writable date grid below, with Japanese and US holidays, the 24 solar terms (二十四節気) and the 72 micro-seasons (七十二候) marked right in the day boxes.

What you get

  • 1 spiral-bound wall calendar, 26 pages: front cover, 12 art pages, 12 date-grid pages, back cover
  • 11 × 8.5 in (27.9 × 21.6 cm) closed; hangs about 17 in (43 cm) tall when open
  • Twin-loop wire binding with a centered hole for hanging
  • Matte, uncoated grid pages that are easy to write on
  • Weeks start on Sunday

The 12 woodblock prints

  • Cover: Hokusai, South Wind, Clear Sky (“Red Fuji”)
  • January: Hokusai, Morning after the Snow at Koishikawa
  • February: Hiroshige, Plum Garden at Kameido
  • March: Hokusai, Fuji from Gotenyama at Shinagawa
  • April: Hiroshige, Cherry Blossoms at Arashiyama
  • May: Hokusai, Grasshopper and Iris
  • June: Hiroshige, Sudden Shower at Shōno
  • July: Hiroshige, Fireworks at Ryōgoku
  • August: Hokusai, Under the Wave off Kanagawa (“The Great Wave”)
  • September: Hiroshige, Autumn Moon on the Tama River
  • October: Hokusai, Tatsuta River maples
  • November: Hokusai, Sparrows and Chrysanthemums
  • December: Hiroshige, Evening Snow at Kanbara

All prints date from the 1820s–1840s and are in the public domain (The Metropolitan Museum of Art Open Access and Japan's National Diet Library). Each is credited on the back cover.

On every month

  • Art page: the month in kanji, its traditional name (睦月, 如月, 弥生 …) with reading, and that month's solar terms with dates, kana readings and English meanings
  • Grid page: Japanese national holidays in red (Japanese and English names), US federal holidays with observed dates, solar terms, the 72 micro-seasons, and seasonal events such as 節分, 雛祭り, 七夕, お盆, 十五夜, 七五三 and 大晦日
  • Okinawa lunar Obon (旧盆), Aug 14–16, 2027
  • Back cover: 2027 year at a glance, artwork credits and sources

Dates were checked against the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan 2027 almanac, the Cabinet Office of Japan and the US Office of Personnel Management. Solar-term and micro-season dates are in Japan Standard Time.
